Display type – Definition in bangladesh?
Nowadays, smartphones employ a wide variety of display/panel types.
These include:
LCD | (Liquid Crystal Display) |
IPS-LCD | (In-Plane Switching Liquid Crystal Display) |
OLED | (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) |
AMOLED | (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) |
The screen, in conjunction with the touch element, plays a pivotal role in the user interface. Therefore, we dedicate considerable efforts during our review process to meticulously evaluate the quality of screens. This evaluation entails measuring various aspects such as Contrast Ratio, Color Calibration, Brightness, and Sunlight Legibility.
LCD/IPS-LCDs:
LCD displays are composed of a grid of liquid crystals that do not produce light on their own. Instead, they require a backlight to illuminate the entire display. Consequently, LCD displays can offer excellent visibility even in bright sunlight.
IPS-LCDs have gained popularity as a prevalent display option in mid-range to high-end smartphones because of their ability to deliver enhanced viewing angles and superior color reproduction. These advancements are attributed to the specific arrangement of the LCD components.
OLED/AMOLED:
OLED and AMOLED technology make use of “organic” LEDs that emit light, eliminating the need for a backlight typically found in LCD displays. This design allows for potentially thinner panels. OLED and AMOLED displays offer improved contrast ratios and deeper blacks, making them highly visible even in low-light environments.
Compared to LCDs, OLED and AMOLED displays consume less power because the backlight is not constantly on. When a pixel is displaying black on an OLED/AMOLED screen, the pixel is genuinely turned off.
